The Cinemassacre YouTube channel was created on April 6th, 2006. It was created by Mike Matei, and the channel was originally called "JamesNintendoNerd".
James Rolfe, aka "The AVGN" in the Nerd Room.
Mike created the channel so that he and James (Rolfe) could upload the Angry Video Game Nerd episodes onto it.
Back then, the AVGN series was called "The Angry Nintendo Nerd".
The other founding members were Kyle Justin, Bootsy, and Kevin Finn.😅
The later years
They later renamed the channel to "Cinemassacre", and James also began uploading his short films onto it, as well as other content like the "Board James" series.
Mike Matei played the Joker (from Batman) in the AVGN series, and he did an amazing job acting in that role.
I love this picture of Mike Matei back when he played the Joker on AVGN. I really thought he did such a perfect job as that character.
Mike Matei as the Joker from Batman
I mean, it's just so funny to watch. Anyone who's seen these episodes knows what I'm talking about. His acting is brilliant. I wish he would do something like this again. He says that he didn't really enjoy playing the characters, but he is really a natural at acting.
Mike plays a great Joker
I mean, look how much he got into character for this Joker role. He really sold it very well. I mean, he really becomes the Joker! That is real acting! He's like a method actor basically. That's the way I see it, at least.
Mike Matei is a very funny guy. You know what I mean? He's just hilarious. I watch his streams, and I just laugh at some of the jokes he makes. He really is a funny character. I suggest you watch his streams if you don't know what I'm talking about. Mike started out on the Cinemassacre YouTube channel, and now he streams on Twitch. He also played many characters in AVGN episodes, alongside James Rolfe.
I love watching Mike's streams
I think we can all agree
But I'm sure some Mike Matei fans might read my blog. I don't know. Fans of his know what I'm talking about. He just has hilarious moments on his Twitch streams.
Let's all just laugh at how funny he is and how he makes so many great jokes. I think that's a good plan, don't you?
Mike Matei is awesome
He's my favorite streamer to watch, hands down. I just love watching his funny antics. And he's a great gamer, too. I love watching him play some of my favorite games. He plays old games and new games. But yeah, that's the whole point of this post. That he's hilarious.
In this video, as the title suggests, I'm talking about the YouTube channel and company called Cinemassacre, which is owned by James Rolfe and Mike Matei. They have made lots of content over the years and continue to do so.
Update on the Cinemassacre channel
I'm just going over the current state of the channel and how things have changed since the early days. The channel is still active, even though a lot has changed in the last few years.
Is Mike Matei your father? A lot of people in his Twitch stream chats (well, some of them) have made jokes about him being their father.
I've even seen people with names such as "Mike Matei is my father" and stuff like that. I think it's really hilarious.
This is the face of my father
Have you ever thought about...what if he is their father? What if he is the father to everyone in his Twitch chats?
Mike Matei is a hero
Mike Matei is out here saving lives, folks. We love him. He is a legend on the internet. Think about the fact that he might actually be YOUR father.
That's a thought there, isn't it? It's not every day that you find your real dad on the internet. As for me, I'm going to keep watching and supporting his streams. Because he's hilarious, and I love watching him play games.
😀😀😀
He's a great gamer, too
All jokes aside, I'm a huge fan of Mike. He makes really great content, and he's just an overall good guy. I watch his streams regularly on Twitch and his YouTube uploads.
I was thinking about how Mike Matei is from New Jersey and everything. He's a "Jersey guy" and whatnot. It just always strikes me as weird for some reason. But then, when I think about it, he does kind of seem like a Jersey person (based on the stereotypes I've heard).
That isn't an insult or anything, I think Jersey/New York/Philly/East coast people are pretty awesome. And Mike is definitely hilarious. Sometimes I forget he's from Jersey, but then he'll mention it on stream, and I'm like "oh yeah lol".
That's where Mike is from
The next time I ask myself "Where does Mike Matei live", I'll remember where he's from instantly. I've never been there, by the way. It would be cool to visit New Jersey. Maybe I'd run into Mike, lol. Who knows?
Do you live on the East Coast? Have you ever seen Mike or anyone else from Cinemassacre? It's a small world sometimes.
A lot of people talk about how Mike Matei brings up Zelda a lot. I personally don't have a problem with it. Because it is an awesome series of games! So Mike's references don't really bother me.
Zelda is awesome
How could anyone not love this game series? A lot of people on the Cinemassacre Truth sub have a problem with it, apparently.

Not everyone, though. Just some people have a problem with it. I can see how someone would bring up that game a lot.
A great series
Zelda is one of the best series of games ever! Mike is an "NES kid". He loves Mario, Zelda, etc. Kids who grew up with Nintendo are all about these two games.
I'm one of them. Let's all talk about this great game! That's why Mike talks about it, because he knows what's up. He knows they are quality games. Leave a comment and let us know if you agree.
Mike Matei does all these really cool challenges on his Twitch live streams. He mostly does Castlevania challenges for the NES games.
The castle with the moon from Castlevania.
He'll do these really hard challenges like "Castlevania: whip-only challenge, " where he'll play through the entire game with only the whip.
Mike is really skilled
That's a really hard challenge. I just love Castlevania games; they're one of my favorite series of games of all time, and especially on the NES.
His challenges really show how skilled a gamer he is. He puts in a lot of hard work playing these games.
An NES gaming console sits against a background.
You can create new games
And the challenges are just really cool because you get so much more out of the games. You can play them over and over and still find new stuff. It's really great.
Mike is just a really entertaining streamer all around. I really love watching his streams for hours and hours; it's so fun.
And he plays retro games, which are my favorite. I'm a retro gamer all the way; I just feel like sometimes they're better games. But some new games are great too.
There are many Mike Matei memes, as we all know. Which one is your favorite?
Here is a list of some of them:
Brown Bricks
Wawa coffee
Ti****ng Now
The load was huge!
Those are just a few of the Mike Matei memes. Mike is hilarious and known for creating memes and giving us a good time.
Which one is your favorite?
Mike has become very popular on the internet in gaming circles and with fans of Cinemassacre.
He has become legendary, just like our old pal Bootsy.
Mike has provided us with countless hours of entertainment. I'm a huge Mike fan, btw.
Mike Matei smiling while sitting on the AVGN couch.
There are lots of memes of Mike around the internet. He has embraced the memes now, too, which makes him that much more awesome. He's a great guy all around.
Mike Matei is the best. Did you know that Mike Matei is Inspector Gadget? He loves building brown bricks in Minecraft. It's the most fun you can possibly have! This is from the "Minecraft with Gadget" video he made on the Cinemassacre YouTube channel, which ended up going viral. He made the video while James was in California shooting the AVGN film.

Mike Matei is one of the original Cinemassacre members...he is a legend. Brown Bricks!
I love building brown bricks as well!
My deduction skills tell me that Mike Matei is a great live streamer, and he loves gaming! And I love Mike, I fully support him. He is the greatest. Can't we all just appreciate Mike? Ah, yes..Miney-crafta! I love this game!
Do you love it?
Do you also love building brown bricks? My deduction skills tell me that we all love it! Isn't this meme from Mike one of the best memes ever on the internet? He definitely became legendary after creating this one. I think most of us could agree on that. This is a meme that many people know Mike by.
I love watching Mike Matei play video games on stream. I watch him on Twitch and also on YouTube. I love how he uploads his streams to YouTube after he broadcasts on Twitch. He's honestly a really talented gamer.

You have to be pretty skilled to actually beat that many games on stream with so many people watching. Live-streaming is a little hard for me because I don't like being the center of attention sometimes.
But Mike really shines with live-streaming
He has a real dedication to gaming. He gets on stream over and over, day after day, and plays through games, no matter how frustrating they are.
Games can be very frustrating. Being a gamer is super fun. As much as I love playing games, I also love watching other people play them.
And he is the person I enjoy watching the most
He's honestly very funny, too. He does a lot of funny stuff on his streams. He's a natural comedian. He has a very sarcastic style of comedy. It's not for everyone; you have to really be able to understand his humor. But his humor is really great.
If you get a chance, tune in to one of his streams sometimes. You'll be glad you did.
Mike Matei is well known for his time with Cinemassacre alongside James. But something he's become known for in recent years is his raging episodes while streaming games.
He's been streaming on Twitch for years now…and all of his fans are well aware of his raging. Why does he get so mad at games?
Well, any gamer knows how frustrating they can be
Mike is more than a casual gamer, so he gets really invested in the games.
So for that reason, it's understandable why he rages so much. He even jokes about it in his streams about how he rages. He's well aware of how it might come across to people...I think.
Each of Mike's streams generally goes like this:
1. Stream starts off normal and calm, with him in a good mood and talking to fans.
2. Stream gradually devolves into him screaming loudly at the game repeatedly.
3. He eventually beats the game...or
4. He rage-quits and ends the stream.
He does often beat the games, so he doesn't always rage-quit. He has beaten many games on stream. He's honestly a very talented gamer.
As I've said before, Mike is one of the main reasons Cinemassacre grew so big.
Many have said that he is the "real Angry Video Game Nerd."
I would have to agree with that to a large extent. He is definitely an "angry gamer". James Rolfe, by contrast, is not very angry at all in real life.
He is really the one who talked James into making more of the AVGN episodes, so we have him to thank for the series running so long…even up to date.
I honestly love watching Mike's streams, and the raging is part of who he is, and it's part of his character. He honestly wouldn't be the same to watch if it wasn't like that.
Mike is fun to watch
So this is not me talking bad about Mike; I'm a big supporter and have always been a fan. Check out his streams if you get the chance; you'll enjoy yourself.
He does some really funny stuff on his streams too. He'll put on funny costumes and play games in character, and do stuff like that.
He also sings and dances now and then, which is really funny. He's an excellent entertainer. So when he's not raging, he's entertaining you in other ways.
Mike loves to give his fans a good show. You can tell he loves what he does. I think if you get the chance, you should go and support him.
Like I said before, he rages because games can be very frustrating sometimes. I think we can all agree on that.

Raging is a part of gaming
Anyone who's a true gamer has rage-quit at some point, probably lots of times. With so many gamers on the internet now, there are so many choices to watch.
But I watch Mike because of his very funny personality. His streams are just very entertaining. I guarantee if you watch one all the way through, you will laugh over and over.
I miss him at Cinemassacre; he was a true staple of the company. It's honestly hard to accept that he is no longer with the company. I never thought that would happen.
If you asked me 10 years ago, I never would have imagined we'd have a Cinemassacre without Mike Matei. It just doesn't seem real. He even had live streams of him gaming on the channel from 2016 and around that time.
That was back when live-streaming was just starting to get popular.
UPDATE 2022:
Mike left Cinemassacre, as we all know, but he MAY be coming back. I'm not really sure, so don't quote me on that. But in the latest AVGN episode, he helped out with the episode and even did a title card like he used to!
I really love Mike's artwork, so his title cards are amazing. They give each episode a unique feel, for sure. They really bring something special to the Nerd episodes.
I can only hope that he returns to the channel to co-star in videos again and help out with them. He's part of what made the channel so incredible and grow so big.
He has been helping with some content on the Cinemassacre channel for the past year or so, from what I understand.
I don't think he ever really "left" entirely. Even if he doesn't star in any videos and rage at games, we can see lots of his gaming on his Twitch channel and on YouTube. Mike will give us that content we crave.
He has lots of fans
There are plenty of us who love watching Mike. It is true that a lot of people watch him for his raging at games, which is fine. But he's just entertaining all around.
But having all of them together was definitely something special. They just had this chemistry. Like in the Donut Disaster video... that is my favorite Board James.
Fans love Bootsy
Bootsy is so hilarious. He's really what made Board James so good, in my opinion. Even if he just came back, I'd be happy.
But they had their differences. It really sucks because imagine if they had stayed friends and kept making videos.
Cinemassacre drifted apart
It sucks to let business differences get in the way of a true friendship. That's something I wish no one had to go through.
When they started the channel, they had the best intentions. Things were so good.
One of my favorite streams from Mike Matei. He plays Super Ghouls and Ghosts for the Super Nintendo and attempts to beat it on the professional setting.
The game looks awesome and fun. I might have played it back in the day. I don't remember.
It looks a lot more fun than the original
Just because the original is very hard. Every time I've played it, I don't get very far.
Mike's patience with this game is amazing. He plays it for several hours. This is an attempt to beat it; he doesn't beat it, but he does a very good job trying and gets to the end.
This is one of those classic games that everyone should play at least once. It's hard for sure, but not as hard as the first Ghosts n Goblins for NES.
That original one is so hard. I like it as a game, but it can sometimes not be fun because of the difficulty.
I've never been much of a SNES fan; I just don't prefer it as a system, although it does have some very good games.
The NES is my all-time favorite console
Anyways, this game is very difficult, and Mike proves that in this stream.
Because it's an attempt, you don't see him beat it, but he comes very close.
Nintendo has made some very good games if you think about it. This is one of those classics. It's just a great game all around.
Every game in this series is awesome if you ask me. I love watching Mike play classic games. He does that quite often.
He plays games that people know and love. This game series (Ghosts n Goblins) has become very popular over the years and garnered a cult following.
You can see why. The games are very hard, but they're also very fun. Mike is a very dedicated gamer. He claims that he isn't that great at playing games, but I would have to disagree.
If you watch him play, he is very talented
He has real staying power when it comes to finishing a game.
He will sometimes play a game on stream for hours and hours until he finally beats it. That takes a lot of patience and skill. Not everyone can do that.
You can see why he makes a living doing this; I think he has found his niche as a gamer. I love watching him play.
He has a pretty big YouTube and Twitch following. Lots of people tune in weekly to see him play.
And the commentary he gives while he's playing is so funny and entertaining. Mike has a love for his craft.
Mike plays great games
I love how he plays games like this SNES one. He plays all of the games we know and love. He also plays arcade games such as Donkey Kong and stuff like that. He does play newer games too.
Check out one of Mike's streams sometime; you will probably have a lot of fun. I love when Mike plays games that I love a lot.
He plays a lot of games, but not all of them are my type of games. He plays RPGs sometimes, and I don't care for a lot of those.
I prefer hybrid RPGs that are more action-oriented. But Super Ghouls n Ghosts is my type of game because I love platformers. Platformers are just fun to me. I love the jumping and side-scrolling aspects. Super Ghouls n Ghosts also has great fighting mechanics.
Great gaming stream by Mike Matei. To be honest, I didn't watch through this whole stream. I think I may have watched a little of it.
Mike does some awesome streams and content on his YouTube and Twitch. I love it when he plays stuff like this.
Mike's streams are great
I could sit and watch Mike's streams for hours, and I do! He's a really good gamer. He doesn't seem to think he is, but he really is.
He's beaten a lot of games on stream. That's something that most people can't say they've done. It takes a lot of dedication and patience to sit there and actually beat a game on a livestream with a bunch of people watching.
You should check him out
Mike is very entertaining to watch. Super funny guy as well. Check out this stream if you get a chance, or one of his many others. He uploads all of his Twitch streams onto his YouTube channel. He keeps the channel as kind of an "archive" of all his past streams.
So you can find hours and hours of great content there. You'll literally never get bored watching his channel! You could watch for days on end, and never run out of stuff to binge.
One of my favorite streams that Mike has done. This one is great. I love the game, although never played it, I'm a big fan of the series. Mike's streams are awesome in my opinion. I suggest you check this one out if you're a gamer.
Notice that this video is called "Pro ATTEMPT" meaning that he didn't beat the game in this stream. However, he did put in a very good effort and made it to the end of the game.
A great game
This is a harder game if you play it on professional difficulty. Mike has a lot of guts to try to beat this on stream on pro.
He's a very talented gamer, regardless of what anyone says. He's beaten a lot of games on stream.
I've been watching a lot of Mike Matei's live streams on YouTube. Well, he actually streams on Twitch, but I watch the re-uploads.
I love watching him play various games. He likes a lot of the same games I love. Mike is a superb gamer.
Mike is awesome!
I think he doesn't get enough credit for how well he actually plays. He has done some really hard challenges, such as beating Ninja Gaiden with no death and no sub-weapons. Now that's hard!
Mike gets a lot of crap from trolls
But he keeps a good attitude about it. He has always been my favorite member of Cinemassacre.
I just feel like he and I are a lot alike. James is cool too, though. But I feel like I relate to Mike a lot. I can relate to how he gets frustrated playing games.
I get like that sometimes
I'm excited to see what other challenges he is going to do. He does really long live streams...sometimes 7 hours or more!
His Ghosts and Goblins arcade stream was like, I think, 12-15 hours or something. It's one of my favorites to go back and watch.
Time for bingeing
I love binge-watching his live streams. Makes for some great entertainment. You can't deny that Mike is a natural entertainer, he really is.
He has some hilarious moments on his streams where he just has fun. Makes for a great time.
