Soda, tea, or coffee?

Which do I like better? Soda, tea, or coffee? Well, that's a very hard thing to answer. I can't really just pick one. I love them all in different ways. They are my 3 favorite drinks, after all. Every day I have all 3 of them.

A cartoon frog drinking coffee
Isn't caffeine amazing?

I love having coffee right when I wake up in the morning. Then I transition to soda and tea. I usually drink diet soda, and iced tea with no calorie sweetener. I used to drink a lot of sweet tea with sugar, but it was too sweet for me.

What about diet soda?

Same with diet soda, I usually drink diet because it's not as sweet. Regular soda seems to be too sweet for me usually.

All caffeine is great

I love all these drinks, though, they're part of my daily ritual. I can't imagine my life without them. It really is hard to just pick one as a favorite. So until then, I'll just keep drinking them all. Here's to staying highly caffeinated!

Too much stress isn't healthy

I've been super stressed out. Just trying to deal with it in healthy ways, but it's hard sometimes. I work too much, and I sometimes forget how to pace myself.

I need to remember to take more breaks. Working all the time isn't healthy. And too much stress isn't healthy.

Self-care is good

I'm trying to practice more self-care and limit things that stress me out. It's going ok so far, I'm making progress slowly.

How do you deal with stress? What type of things do you do to relax?

Just realized I'm neurodivergent

I had heard the term "neurodivergent" before, but I didn't know exactly what it means. Now I realize, I definitely am. I always knew I felt different in some ways, and after reading about what this term actually means, I realized it fits me perfectly.

A meme about being neurodivergent
Yep.

Is there a stigma around this word?

I'm not really sure, but there shouldn't be. We are all different, and we should embrace that and be proud of who we are.

I'm glad I did more research and learned more about this.

Why are certain people internet trolls?

Why do some people troll? I wonder what they get out of it. Maybe they're just looking for attention. I think that's why they do it.

A colorful picture of troll figures
Internet trolls are not fun to deal with

I mean, why troll people, unless you just want attention? I don't see how they enjoy messing with people. Seems a little weird.

Why they do it

I guess trolls are sometimes jealous of others' successes. I think that's what it boils down to. The moral of the story is, don't be a troll!

Funny joke idea

I think a hilarious joke/prank idea would be, to go into a convenience store to buy a soda. When you're checking out (assuming there is a line of people) hold your finger up and instantly go into an old man voice and say:

"Back in my day, a soda only cost a nickel!"

I think that would probably get a good laugh from the people standing around.

Why I love retro gaming

Retro gaming has a certain charm to it. There's just something about the 8-bit graphics, and music, and all of that.

Gaming is the best

I love settling in and playing a good NES, Genesis, or Atari game. I love all retro games, it doesn't matter which console it's from. 8-bit graphics are my favorite, but I also love Atari, 16-bit consoles, and so on.

Retro gaming is amazing

I love new gaming too, but retro is my favorite. There are a lot of people who agree with me. The NES is definitely my favorite console, hands down.

Technical specs of the amazing NES console

The NES (Nintendo Entertainment System) was really amazing and blew people away at the time it was released. It was first released as the FAMICOM in Japan. In June 1985, Nintendo unveiled the American version of the FAMICOM, which was to be called the NES.

There were 17 games that were launched with the console.

Here are the technical specifications of the NES:

  • An 8-bit CPU [Ricoh 2A03 8-bit processor with MOS Technology 6502 core at 1.79 MHz (NTSC) / 1.66 MHz (PAL)]
  • 2k RAM and also 2K of Video RAM (which can both have more added by the game cartridge), 256 bytes of RAM for sprites
  • 2 controllers and a "Zapper" light gun
  • Most NES games were written in the 6502 assembly language

More about the NES

The best-selling game of the NES's lifespan was Super Mario Bros., which spawned a whole franchise of Mario games. Tweet: The lifespan of the Nintendo was from 1985-1995. In the 90s, games became better because developers knew how to make better use of the hardware.

Longevity

The NES lives on with millions of people who love to play it on a daily basis. NES games are particularly popular in the speedrunning community.

Enjoy a sparkling flavored water (blog)

Sitting here enjoying a flavored sparkling water, and just enjoying the day. I love these beverages. They're so tasty!

Flavored water is so tasty

They're so crisp and refreshing. Sometimes I feel like having one of these, instead of a diet soda. Who can blame me for that?

Very tasty

These are especially good when the weather is hot outside, but they're great any time of year.

I love speedrunning (video games)

I love speedrunning. I got into it earlier this year (2024). I just wanted to see if I could do it. It was kind of like a challenge to myself.

Gaming is really fun

I was just kind of messing around at first. And then I beat my first couple of games, and I was hooked. Then I started taking it seriously.

It's my passion

"Speedrunning is so fun. I never imagined I would develop such a passion for it. I really love it. I love gaming in general, so I also just do casual playthroughs."

Arcus is the one who really got me into speedrunning, so thanks, pal!

Happy November...it's Christmas time

Merry Christmas guys...it's that time of year again, November. I technically start celebrating Christmas on November 1st most years.

Christmas presents
It's the holiday season

So as soon as Halloween is over, I get into the Christmas spirit and put up my X-mas decorations the very next day.

My favorite time of year

I love the holiday season, it's my favorite time of year. It's a time of year when people get a little friendlier, and we all help each other out a little more.

It's a time of year to remember what's really important in life. And to be grateful and count our blessings.

I'm really happy

I'm so excited. I love watching Christmas shows and movie on t.v., and drinking hot chocolate, and watching the Christmas tree, and everything else that comes along with the season.

Christmas is just amazing. What are you doing to get in the spirit?

My favorite drink (Diet Coke)

My favorite drink, ever, is probably Coca-Cola. I love the way it tastes. I can't drink too much because it's harsh, but man, I love it.

Who doesn't love caffeine?

A treat

An ice-cold Coke on a hot day, there's nothing better than that. You can see why it's so popular. Coke is definitely my favorite soda of all time.

A diet is great

I usually drink Diet Coke, if I have one. But regular is so good from time to time.

Are you glad summer is over?

Who else is glad summer is over? I kind of have mixed feelings about the whole thing. I do love summer on one hand, and I get a little sad when it's over. But overall, I get more excited that fall is coming. Because I love cool weather and everything else about fall.

Long, hot summers

Summers in Missouri are just so long and incredibly hot and humid. When it's so hot outside, it puts a damper on doing anything outdoors.

A picture of a beach
Look at that summer beach

When people think of summer, they think of having fun outside. But it's almost impossible to do that in Missouri because, during the hottest months, it's unbearable outside.

I love fall

When fall comes, it's such a huge relief, and it's so welcome because you've been so hot all summer. The cool weather feels so nice once it actually comes. That's why I love cool weather so much. I can wear hoodies and drink hot coffee and stuff like that.

Do you love the fall season?

And then there's Christmas, I love everything about it. It's my favorite season of the whole year. Who doesn't love Christmas? So to summer, I say, goodbye, I'll miss you, but I'm also excited for fall and winter. Thank you for the memories, summer. It was real!

Why I hate water levels in videos games

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • I have an aversion to water in real life, so water levels remind me of that
  • Water levels often have bad controls
  • Water levels are often too challenging to actually be fun

I wanted to explain why I hate water levels in video games (generally speaking). We've all been playing a game, and then you come across the dreaded water stage. Almost every game you can think of has one, or a few.

I'm not sure why so many games feel they need to include them, but that is what it is. I have always disliked video game water levels.

Reasons why

There are a couple of reasons for this. For one, I almost drowned when I was a kid, so I've always kind of had an aversion to water.

Super Mario Bros. water level
A Super Mario Bros water stage

So I think playing water stages somehow brings back that memory or something, if that makes sense. The other main reason I hate water levels is the controls (the gameplay mechanics).

Bad controls

It's usually very hard to control your character when you're trying to navigate the water. Whether it's swimming or walking through water, it's typically very slow and hard to control.

I think that's why most people dislike these types of levels. I think the consensus is that they're just typically not fun.

In some games, these stages are manageable, but often not. The best thing we can do is just tough our way through them.

Final thoughts

I don't think water levels are entirely bad in video games. They definitely have their place, and some games are able to pull them off very nicely. It really depends on the game and how it's executed. I think to pull off a water level successfully, the main thing is that the controls have to be good.

The water temple from Ocarina of Time
The Ocarina of Time water temple

The level should be fun to play, not a complete nightmare. And some games do actually manage to make these levels fun.

The important thing with video games is to have fun. Some people love water levels, and some don't, and that's totally okay. Leave a comment and let us know if you like water levels.

Coffee and "fall" go together

 Key takeaways

  • Coffee is great in cooler weather
  • I drink mostly hot coffee
  • Coffee can warm you up in the fall and winter
  • More people drink coffee when it's cold outside
  • Drinking coffee can lead to you having the perfect day

Coffee goes together with fall weather, very well, I might add. There's just something about having coffee in the fall that is simply amazing.

Fall coffee is great

The cool weather goes great with a nice hot cup of Joe. The coffee should be hot, though, for the best effect.

I don't usually drink iced or cold coffee. Hot coffee is just amazing. When you are cold, the hot coffee warms you up very nicely.

Isn't a cup of Joe great in the fall weather?

Coffee is good in the summer, too

But it's better in the fall and winter. Think about a nice, cool fall day. And you're sitting there, looking out the window, and having an enjoyable cup of the good brew.

Doesn't that sound like the perfect day? I think it does.

A nice hot cup is amazing.

I've had so many days when it was cool outside and the coffee warmed me up so nicely.

A nice hot drink

That sounds perfect to me. But everyone likes their coffee in a different way. How do you like yours? Do you love coffee in the fall too? Why type or flavor do you normally drink in the fall? Do you go for a seasonal variety?

Been going through a lot lately

I've been going through a lot lately. That's just life, I guess. I should know by now that life just has its ups and downs.

I've just been really stressed out, though. That's also the nature of life. Life has a lot of "stressors". We all go through stuff.

Each person has their own struggles. That's why I try not to judge people. Just as I wouldn't want them to judge me for whatever I'm going through.

A depressed man watching the sunset
Life can be stressful, but be grateful

I just have to remember that there are so many blessings in life.

I truly feel so blessed. In so many ways. God is good, all the time.😀

When things get hard, we just have to remember, this is not the destination! Things do get better. Bad situations are temporary.

That's one thing that really gets me through each day.

Just remembering that after the storm, comes the calm and the sun.

There is always good you can focus on too. There's always a silver lining.

It's coffee time (blog post)

It's coffee time again. It's late night here, and I'm making some coffee. I really love coffee, don't you? I'm enjoying some Krispy Kreme coffee tonight.

I love that variety, it's so tasty

I love having coffee any time of the day. Let's face it, there's never a bad time to have coffee, right?
Right.

Coffee is made to be enjoyed at any time.

A stock photo of a cup of coffee

That's why I'm making some right now, even though it's 10:42 at night.

Night coffee is great

It's my favorite time to drink it.

As I'm writing this, my coffee has just finished brewing, so I'm gonna go enjoy a sip. I just thought I'd get on here for a few and talk about how happy I am that I'm making coffee.

What time of day do you have coffee? Do you enjoy it any time? Leave a comment and let me know. I'd love to know what variety of coffee you guys are drinking right now.

Another day, another coffee

When I wake up in the morning, I always try to think to myself "I'm gonna have a great day". Of course, it doesn't always work out that way, but at least we can try, right?

But one thing is for sure, coffee is always there for me. Anytime I need a pick-me-up, the cup of joe is there for me, making everything ok again.

There's always coffee

Every day, there is more coffee to drink. And no matter how busy I get, I can always make time to sip the good brew and just be content for a moment.

A cup of coffee with foam
Look at that cup.

Every day that comes, there will always be more coffee to drink. And I do have several cups each day. I couldn't imagine my life without the stuff.

It makes life better

Life is meant to be lived...with coffee. I don't understand people who don't like to drink it but to each their own.

That's ok. I'm just so grateful that I have Joe to get me through the day.

What my life feels like sometimes..

This is what my life feels like sometimes. Imagine if there was just a spinning ball that was always spinning.

A blue spinning sphere with arrows circling it
My life feels like this spinning ball sometimes

Like in the picture above. And you're constantly trying to climb on top of the spinning ball and stand up there.

You're trying to reach the top

But of course, since it's spinning all the time, you're constantly falling and slipping off of it. This is what things feel like for me sometimes.

I'm not trying to complain or be negative, I just wish things would "go my way" more often. It gets really old constantly having to climb an uphill battle.
