Technical specs of the amazing NES console

 The NES (Nintendo Entertainment System) was really amazing and blew people away at the time it was released. It was first released as the FAMICOM in Japan. In June 1985, Nintendo unveiled the American version of the FAMICOM, which was to be called the NES.

There were 17 games that were launched with the console.

Here are the technical specifications of the NES:

  • An 8-bit CPU [Ricoh 2A03 8-bit processor with MOS Technology 6502 core at 1.79 MHz (NTSC) / 1.66 MHz (PAL)]
  • 2k RAM and also 2K of Video RAM (which can both have more added by the game cartridge), 256 bytes of RAM for sprites
  • 2 controllers and a "Zapper" light gun
  • Most NES games were written in the 6502 assembly language
