Should you become a blogger?

A lot of people might be wondering, "Should I become a blogger?" It's a fair question to ask yourself. You might have been thinking about it for a long time. The truth is, there are many great reasons to get into blogging.

Blogs are fun.

Do you love writing?

If you love writing about your favorite subjects, then blogging is right up your alley. You can sit and write about your favorite things all day long, and even get paid for it! Doesn't that sound nice?

Anyone can become a blogger. There's no requirement or special skill you have to have, other than, you should love writing already. But if you love writing, then blogging should come super easy to you. And the great part is, you can turn your passion into a business.

Who is blogging for?

Blogging is for everyone and anyone. It's a great, fun thing you can do and even build a large presence on the internet.

The internet is such a cool place, and I'm so glad that blogging exists.

I started making videos on Rumble

I started making videos on Rumble now. So now I'm doing YouTube, TikTok, and Rumble. I thought it was time to spread out and be on more platforms. I had heard a lot about Rumble and I thought it sounded really cool, so I just signed up.

Rumble.com
I love making videos on Rumble

Rumble is a really cool platform so far. I love what they have to offer. I still love YouTube though, it will still be my main platform. YouTube is still very awesome. ☕😅

I'm very excited

But I'm excited about Rumble, and I can't wait to see what happens. Anything that grows the brand is always good. My channel name on Rumble is the same as my YouTube..."My Mind Displayed". I really love making content.

Writing and video are both awesome

I love both blogging and YouTube, I have loved both ever since I started this online stuff years ago. It's such a fun time being a content creator. I don't know how long I'll be on Rumble, I'm just going to see what happens.

I feel so blessed to be able to make content, I'm very thankful for it. What about you guys? Do you blog or make videos? I'd love to hear about it in the comments.

My original inspiration for blogging, John Chow

I wanted to talk about how I got into blogging. I first saw some blogs on the internet around 2009 and that's when I created my first blog.

I think they were just people talking about their lives or something, just you know, blogs.

Isn't blogging great?

At some point not long after I discovered John Chow's blog. John Chow had a blog that was unique and groundbreaking.

His blog design was amazing

The way he had the ads positioned, and the affiliate links built into the blog underneath the header, it really blew my mind.

His original blog design was unique, I had never seen anything like it.

He really paved the way for bloggers and showed us what was possible.

He is in the "make money online" space of the internet. Furthermore, he is part of what got me into internet marketing as well as blogging.

Got an idea from him

I decided at some point that I wanted to be like John and build my blog into a real business.

He is what inspired me to start my own blog on WordPress (I think that was in 2010). I don't have that blog anymore but man I had some great times with it.

I'm more of a blogger guy personally. Blogger (Blogspot) is the first blogging platform I ever used..so it has a special place in my heart.

I love blogging with Google

I'm thankful to be back on Blogger. Not only that, but I might not still be blogging if it wasn't for John Chow and his money-making blog.

He really showed me that you can turn blogging into a real, full-time business. John Chow is a legend and an inspiration for all of us bloggers and internet marketers.

If you're going to learn from anyone when it comes to how to blog, John is the guy you want to learn from. His advice will take you much further than many other people out there.

Link building vs attracting backlinks naturally (SEO)

I'm not going to lie, I'm really into SEO and link-building. It's fun to do, although it takes a lot of work and time.

People doing search engine optimization
The natural way to do SEO

And it definitely has great results if you do it right. But is it better to attract links naturally by just making content?

Well yes...but the thing is, you can build links, in the beginning, to build your rankings and get your content seen.

Just create content

And then after you have some momentum, you should focus more on creating content, because the links will be coming in naturally at that point.

And natural links are the best for rankings because the anchor text profile is completely natural and Google loves that.

Natural link profile

That's the trickiest part about link building is trying to make your anchor text profile look natural. If you get that wrong, you could lose your rankings.

But what I've found is that your anchor text profile tends to "even out" over time…when you start attracting links naturally.

So link building is great, but it's always best if you can attract links organically. That is the way of "white hat" SEO. Creating great content and just letting people link to you as they choose. You can't lose when you follow this method.

Mini site I made

A mini-site with a youtube video that I made. I like to sometimes make these "mini-sites". They're just small, one-page websites that I make to promote other things.

I might sometimes put a youtube video on there, or something like that. With a quick blurb about one of my favorite topics.

It's fun to build web pages. For a while I've been using Google Sites, you can make free websites there..and it's really easy.

I love linking to other sites, there's something really fun about that.

Sometimes I cross-promote between different sites of mine. You have to let people know the other places where you make the content as well. It just makes sense to do that. So I often will create pages to promote my other pages.

It's a little trick I learned back in the day when I first started all this internet stuff.

The problem with youtube hustle culture

Talking about the problem I see with "hustle culture". It is actually a very toxic thing. Hustle culture is so common in our society.

It's something that we promote and teach people all the time. You hear about it everywhere. All over the internet, TV, and other media.

You're always hearing about how you should work harder and more hours. Keep hustling! I'm not saying working hard is bad.

It's actually very good

But you need to learn to take breaks and relax sometimes. It's not good to just constantly work and burn yourself out.

It's just not healthy. But people make you believe it is. In our society, it's frowned upon to take breaks or vacations.

4-day workweek?

Why? In some parts of the world, they have 4-day workweeks, and they have found that people are a lot happier and more productive.

If you're constantly working, then you can't really be happy. I don't believe our bodies are designed to be constantly working.

😀😀😀

I believe taking lots of breaks is good for us. You can do a lot better work when you're not "spinning your wheels". See what I mean?

Just take it easy

Take a break once in a while, it will be really good for you. Just try it out and see what I mean. I love taking breaks to have some coffee or just stare out the window. It really makes your soul happy. When was the last time you just spaced out?

I think we forget to just relax sometimes.

Keywords are the foundation of internet marketing

If I could tell anyone starting out online..whether it's youtube, blogging, email marketing, affiliate marketing..etc..I would tell them this one thing. Learn how to use keywords to attract traffic from search engines.

Long tail keywords are the best form of free promotion you are going to find. If you use keywords correctly, your blog, youtube channel, twitter account, Instagram, etc will all show up in Google searches and you will get a lot of visitors to them.

No matter what you're trying to do whether it's grow a youtube channel, blog, or email list, you need to use keywords otherwise most people will not be able to find you.

Keywords will help you grow big..for free. They are completely free. You just have to take the time to do the research. The rest after that is easy..just sit back and watch your websites grow! One of my biggest regrets is that I didn't learn the importance of keywords earlier in my marketing.

Blogging vs. YouTube (thoughts)

I've been a blogger since around 2009 I think. Somewhere in there. I started YouTube shortly after, but I originally started my YouTube channel to promote my blog.

My first video was me just saying "hey I have this blog, check it out, etc.". I love YouTube. I really enjoy making videos.

In my heart though, I think I will always be a blogger first and foremost. I once asked someone what my strengths were when it came to all this "online stuff". They told me blogging/writing was one of them.

Hey, I'll take it. I always come back to blogging, no matter how many videos I make. I think blogging is where my true passion is.

I love YouTube, don't get me wrong. I'm passionate about it too, but sometimes I find it easier and more fun to blog.

I guess blogging comes a little more naturally to me. I do love them both though. They kind of "complement" each other.

What's considered "selling out"? (making money online)

When it comes to making money online? What would you consider "selling out"? A lot of people think that putting ads on your blog or YouTube videos is selling out.

It's really not. Lots of people make money online from blogging, YouTube, affiliate marketing, and so on.

There's nothing wrong with that. It's a real business for many people. So why do people judge them for that?

I understand some people don't like ads on a website, but realistically, it's commonplace now. Even on YouTube.

Almost every video has ads on it now. People have to make a living. You can't fault them for that. I personally think it's awesome if a blogger is able to make money from it, more power to them!

I don't feel like it's selling out to place ads there. It's just a part of the whole package deal. I don't feel like it takes away from the experience at all in my opinion.

Take surveys (for cash!)

Looking for a way to make real money online? You can do so by taking surveys..and getting checks in the process!

Surveys are a great way to make some extra money online. Anyone who is trying to work from home should not overlook them.

Surveys have been around a long time. It's known as market research. You're helping companies gather data so they can improve their products and services.

You simple fill out questions about your demographics and stuff like that. Usually the surveys are pretty short.

And then after you're done, they pay you real money. Some sites pay you in gift cards or other rewards. But more and more sites are offering real cash to make money online!

I hope that helps,
Whitney

The best laid plans...(blog post and rant)

I had something bad happen recently, but I'm starting to think it might actually be good. I think everything we think is "bad" may actually be for our benefit. Anyways, here's what happened.

I had been a part of certain internet business for a couple of years, up until recently. It was going very good.

I was getting to the point where I was starting to make money with it.

I would have made some great money if things kept going as they were.

Well recently, the business had a lot of problems with revenue coming in, and so in a nutshell, the business collapsed.

So my 2+ years of hard work, and building up the business, was basically all for nothing.

A couple of key points, though.

1. I had spent a lot of money trying to grow the business. It was eating into my monthly living expenses, so I won't have to worry about that anymore.

2. I gained a lot of experience working with this business. Experience that I will use in the future in all my internet marketing pursuits.

3. The business is a Revshare, and they are known for failing. In fact, they probably fail more than any other business.

I'm starting to really doubt the Revshare model.

The sustainability of it all. I was the BIGGEST advocate and supporter of Rev shares. But now I'm starting to see that they are probably not built to last unless there is an external source of income that is dependable.

I think from now on I may just focus on other methods of making money online. Lesson learned...don't invest more money than you can afford into your business!

And most importantly, that quote about the "best-laid plans of mice and men" is true.

Sometimes you have something planned out so perfectly, and you think it's going to go a certain way, but then something happens and changes your plans.

You can't really count on certain things in life, because life changes. You just have to learn to roll with the punches and adapt to whatever life throws at you. Sometimes that's easier said than done. Never get your hopes up too much for something, that's an important lesson I learned from this.

I am excited to find more money-making opportunities and what the future has in store. Thanks for reading!

My bad experience with a YouTube ad network

A few months back, I joined a YouTube Network. Basically, they are a network that pays you out your ad earnings every month from YouTube, and they pay you straight into PayPal.

A red YouTube logo
I still love doing YouTube.

It's great for if you don't want to wait until the minimum withdrawal limit from Google Adsense. The downside is that the network takes a large portion of your earnings.

What happened

In my case, they took 60% of my monthly earnings! That's a lot of money. I ended up getting kicked out of the network for some unknown reason.

So now I'm back with Google Adsense. What I learned in the end is that networks are not really worth your time, and they will just make you earn less from YouTube.

Is Adsense still the best?

You are much better off sticking with Google Adsense. Your channel will need to be bigger for you to withdraw, but in the end it will be worth it.

I am not going to name which network I was with, but I wish them the best. I'm thankful for the experience because it taught me what I don't want.

Can making money online be that easy?

Making money on the internet doesn't have to be as hard as you think. Newbies think it's hard just because they have failed.

I failed a lot when I first started out. It happens to all of us. But that doesn't mean it has to be difficult to make money online.

Some methods are harder than others, but one thing's for sure, you have to find a method that works for you.

I found a method that is SO EASY that even a complete newbie can do it. The best part is, you DON'T have to get a single sign up into your business to make money with it.

Want to finally start making money online?

Making money online doesn't have to be hard. You may have struggled a lot in the past, and that's ok. We all struggle when first starting out.

It's normal and it's part of the process. But what if you didn't have to struggle? What if there was a business you could succeed at EASILY?

Well, there is. My Paying Ads is a business where everyone wins, and where you succeed EVEN IF you don't get any sign ups into your business.

Most people fail at online business because they can't get traffic and can't get sign ups. Well it doesn't have to be like that.

Anyone can start making money online today.

The easiest way to make money online

When people think of making money online, they often think it has to be very difficult. Nothing could be further from the truth.

It's all about finding something that fits you. A business that fits your way of learning. Most online businesses require that you get SIGN UPS in order to earn money.

That can be very tough for the beginning marketer. What if I told you there was a business that paid you even if you don't get a single sign up?

Literally all you have to do is invest a little money to start, and you can start with as little as $5.00. Then you have to surf 10 ads daily. That's it! You will earn money every day!

If you want to get sign ups you will earn even more, but it's not a requirement. Does this sound like a business that you want to join?

Even if you're a complete beginner you can and will earn money with this.

Enough talking.

Why is list building important?

I used to not understand the importance of building your email list. That is, when I first started out in internet marketing.

It is important for several reasons. You need to have an email list because you own that and no one can take it away from you.

When you join businesses on the internet, they can always be taken away from you at any time. However, when you build an email list, that IS YOUR BUSINESS!

No one can take it away from you. Ever. You build a relationship with the people on your list. They become your biggest fans and supporters.

They also buy products that you offer them that will help them succeed online. You should always provide value.

Your email list is so important if you want to build a real internet business. All of your "traffic driving" should be aimed at your email list.

Don't drive traffic directly to affiliate offers and businesses. Channel all your traffic sources to your email list and focus on building that.

Without an email list, you can't really build a real business that YOU OWN. It's super important, as they say, the money is in the list!

Why is email marketing important?

Many people think that email marketing is only about selling products and making money. After all, we always hear the phrase "The money is in the list."

Well, it's a true statement. However, a lot of internet marketers look past one HUGE aspect of email marketing that is even more important than making sales and generating revenue.

What aspect would that be?

Relationship building.

You build a list so you can communicate with your readers and fans and have a real way to keep in touch with them.

You should think of it like a family to be honest. Why wouldn't your list be like your family? They are loyal readers of your blog, viewers of your YouTube videos, buyers of your products, etc.

You should treat them like family and build a relationship with them. That's what it's all about. You can't just think of your list like a money machine and that's it.

If all you do is sell to them, you will quickly burn out your list and that will be the end of that. However, if you build and nurture a real relationship with the people on your list, they will thank you for it and be loyal to you for years to come!

It's a win-win for everyone. At the end of the day, you should be offering VALUE to your list. Be nice to them, offer them cool free stuff, give back to them like they have always given to you.

After all, the law of attraction states that in giving it is how we truly receive.

Hope this helps. Share this forward!
