Link building vs attracting backlinks naturally (SEO)

I'm not going to lie, I'm really into SEO and link-building. It's fun to do, although it takes a lot of work and time.

The natural way to do SEO

And it definitely has great results if you do it right. But is it better to attract links naturally by just making content?

Well yes...but the thing is, you can build links, in the beginning, to build your rankings and get your content seen.

Just create content

And then after you have some momentum, you should focus more on creating content, because the links will be coming in naturally at that point.

And natural links are the best for rankings because the anchor text profile is completely natural and Google loves that.

Natural link profile

That's the trickiest part about link building is trying to make your anchor text profile look natural. If you get that wrong, you could lose your rankings.

But what I've found is that your anchor text profile tends to "even out" over time…when you start attracting links naturally.

So link building is great, but it's always best if you can attract links organically. That is the way of "white hat" SEO. Creating great content and just letting people link to you as they choose. You can't lose when you follow this method.

Quick update...(talking about my various youtube channels)

Just a quick update about my youtube channels. I have other channels besides my main one, which many people are not aware of. So I just wanted to make an update video asking people to check out my other channels.

If you support all my channels it helps me out. I really appreciate you guys. Thanks so much for all your support. Please like and comment on the video.

MULTIPLE CHANNELS

I wanted to have multiple YouTube channels because it's just a better idea in my opinion. To have backups. Just in case.

But it's also cool because it helps you grow bigger and have a wider reach on YouTube. The whole idea is to grow bigger and reach more people.

MORE GROWTH

And having multiple channels will definitely help you accomplish that. Growing bigger isn't really the goal for every person. Some people just want to put content out there and reach a few people.

Honestly, I'm grateful for every person that watches my videos or reads my blogs. I truly am. You guys are awesome.

Still trying to keep my stress down

I've still been getting super stressed out. I wish I could get to the root of why I'm so stressed. I know it's not healthy.

I think it's just the pressure of certain things, like being an online presence. It comes with a lot of stress. A  lot of people don't understand.

I am trying to just take it easy and relax. It's good for me, it's what I need. Just to lay around and do nothing for a while.

Everyone needs that sometimes. It makes me feel a lot more relaxed when I'm not constantly trying to put out youtube videos and stuff.

Sometimes I just need to take a step back and chill.

Recently starting getting into the band..."The Misfits"

I'm not sure how many people reading this are aware of the band called "The Misfits". They are a pretty well-known band. But sadly, many people only know them for their song "Halloween". Which is a shame.

Because Halloween is not even one of my favorite songs by them. It's a good song, I'm not bashing it, but they have a lot of songs that I like way better.

My favorite era

I love the Graves-era stuff a lot, it might be my favorite. The work he did with the band was simply amazing, there's no denying that.

His voice and his particular style just really resonate with me. He's also a humble guy. I'm just sorry that it took me this long to get into the Misfits.

I found them late

It's surprising because I was into punk at an early age (teenager). I went through a phase, I guess you could say.

These days I listen to country. But I still listen to a wide variety of stuff on YouTube. The Misfits though, I'm "diving deeper" and listening to more of their music, I think it's going to be a great journey. I look forward to listening to lots of their music.

Who wouldn't love this incredible band? They are truly a quality band. I just feel like they put so much heart and soul into their music. Even though it has dark themes, it's really great music. In fact, I love that aspect of it.

Update 2024:

I still love this band, even more than ever. I still listen to them from time to time. If I get in the mood, I'll listen. What a great band. I still have to explore some more of their music.

I lost Twitter followers and I'm happy about it

I lost Twitter followers. This is a normal thing, followers come and go. Over the past year or so, I've lost followers…but here's the thing… I'm HAPPY about it.

Twitter logo on a mobile phone
Are you on Twitter/X?

You might be wondering why I'm happy. Because the fact is, I don't need TONS of followers to be happy. It's not about numbers.

It's not about the numbers

I would rather have fewer followers that are active and engaged. A loyal audience is what matters most. People who like, comment, and subscribe...actually CARE about your content.

It's about quality, not quantity. When you focus on just enjoying the journey, the followers just naturally come.

You shouldn't chase numbers...I mean, they are nice to have, but that shouldn't be your end-all-be-all. You should do things because you love them.

It's about your passion

Like blogging, for example. I do it because I love it. The views etc. are just a pleasant side effect. But at the end of the day, I'm still going to love it because I have a true passion for it. That's what this "online stuff" is all about.

Doing what you love, and having fun with it. It's never about the amount of followers, views, or likes you have. Just do what you love, and the rest will follow.

Conclusion

That being said, I sincerely appreciate your comments on here or on my YouTube channel. You guys are awesome. Your comments keep me going and make me want to keep making content. I love making content, it's so fun. I think we can all agree on that.

Why you should be grateful for what you have

I think this is very important in life. Being grateful for what you have. Things could always be worse. There is so much to be thankful for when you really think about it.

I mean, just look around you. Everywhere you look, there are blessings. We just sometimes forget to realize and notice them. 👀

Don't ever take anything for granted. You are blessed beyond what you know. I feel blessed to even be writing this blog post.

A grateful person with their arms to the sky
Gratitude is super important in life

Trust God

Life is full of miracles. God is good. Think about the food you eat, or the coffee you drink, or your laptop, or phone, or whatever.

All these things are gifts from God and the Universe. They are gifts that we should be thankful for every minute.

Life is a blessing

Life is amazing. If you realize that you're so lucky to have everything you have. Blessings come in so many forms in life.

The coffee you're drinking, the clean water, your friends, family, etc. Everything is a blessing in some way. Just look around and realize how incredible life is, my friend.

Life is mind-blowing if you really think about it. Just when you're feeling down and out, something happens to restore your faith and make you even more grateful. We are all so blessed to be alive.

Thursday vlog (youtube video)

This is a vlog I made. It's Thursday. Hope you guys are doing well. I love making vlogs like this, where I just talk about what's going on with me.

In this particular vlog, I'm talking about how the cool weather is finally upon us. In Missouri, summers are very hot and the cool weather of fall is very welcome.

The warm weather period from spring to fall in Missouri can seem to last a very long time. So when it finally gets cool, it feels so good.

I do love living in Missouri though

The weather extremes can be pretty hard to deal with sometimes, but I wouldn't live anywhere else.

In this video, I'm also talking about how I started drinking keto coffee. It's basically low-carb/keto-friendly coffee to help you lose weight.
It's very tasty too.

I love being a vlogger

Vlogs are one of my favorite types of videos to make on YouTube. They're just fun to make. I like talking about my life and what I do on a daily basis.

I'm a vlog channel, but I also make funny videos. I am a blogger who started making YouTube videos at one point.

Mini site I made

A mini-site with a youtube video that I made. I like to sometimes make these "mini-sites". They're just small, one-page websites that I make to promote other things.

I might sometimes put a youtube video on there, or something like that. With a quick blurb about one of my favorite topics.

It's fun to build web pages. For a while I've been using Google Sites, you can make free websites there..and it's really easy.

I love linking to other sites, there's something really fun about that.

Sometimes I cross-promote between different sites of mine. You have to let people know the other places where you make the content as well. It just makes sense to do that. So I often will create pages to promote my other pages.

It's a little trick I learned back in the day when I first started all this internet stuff.

Feeling really stressed out (blog)

I'm feeling really stressed out again. I always do this to myself. I push myself too far and I don't know when to stop. Well, I do know when to stop, but I don't listen.

So I end up overworking myself. Then I'm stressed out. To the max. I have to learn to pace myself and stop trying to do so much.

I just need to learn to relax.

It's really stressful trying to do so many things online. YouTube, blog, social media, email, etc.

There's so much to do. I just need to take a step back sometimes and realize it will still be there tomorrow. I really hate stress.

A stressed out man in a suit

Stress can become a real problem if you don't take care of it and keep it under control. There are lots of healthy ways to deal with it.

I need to learn more about those. Instead of unhealthy ways. There are some very unhealthy ways to deal with stress, such as overeating and other addictions.

You definitely don't want to do that. It won't lead you anywhere good.

The more you get your stress under control, the happier you'll be.

I'm gradually learning to pace myself and not try to do so much all at once. Taking it easy is always a good thing.

Remember, stress is okay in healthy amounts, but if you have too much, it becomes a problem. So take some time out for yourself to just relax and have some fun.

The problem with youtube hustle culture

Talking about the problem I see with "hustle culture". It is actually a very toxic thing. Hustle culture is so common in our society.

It's something that we promote and teach people all the time. You hear about it everywhere. All over the internet, TV, and other media.

You're always hearing about how you should work harder and more hours. Keep hustling! I'm not saying working hard is bad.

It's actually very good

But you need to learn to take breaks and relax sometimes. It's not good to just constantly work and burn yourself out.

It's just not healthy. But people make you believe it is. In our society, it's frowned upon to take breaks or vacations.

4-day workweek?

Why? In some parts of the world, they have 4-day workweeks, and they have found that people are a lot happier and more productive.

If you're constantly working, then you can't really be happy. I don't believe our bodies are designed to be constantly working.

😀😀😀

I believe taking lots of breaks is good for us. You can do a lot better work when you're not "spinning your wheels". See what I mean?

Just take it easy

Take a break once in a while, it will be really good for you. Just try it out and see what I mean. I love taking breaks to have some coffee or just stare out the window. It really makes your soul happy. When was the last time you just spaced out?

I think we forget to just relax sometimes.

My body is starting to reject soda

I was going through a phase where I felt like my body was starting to reject soda. I drink a lot of diet soda. I used to drink way too much of the stuff.

I would sometimes have 9 or 10 sodas a day. That's way too many. Now I've cut way down on them. I only have maybe 5 at the most on a typical day.

Over the limit?

I SOMETIMES might go over that, but not usually. I try to space them out now. I'll have a glass of tea or water in between sodas.

Healthy choices

I'm trying to at least make some healthy choices now. Instead of just torturing my body. I think we should all love our bodies, they're our temples after all!

Update

November 2021: I'm still drinking diet soda, but I have made a lot of progress in cutting down. I have cut my consumption down a lot. Not like the 9 or 10 sodas I was having per day before.

I seem to be doing just fine with the lower amount. I still like to enjoy some. I love diet soda, so it's hard to completely stop. But I'm drinking more tea and other stuff. I've made progress.
