ICP "Yum Yum's Lure" album (review)

An ICP Joker Card logo of Yum Yum's Lure
Hey guys, I wanted to do a quick Yum Yum's Lure review. This album came out in early 2021. I've been down with the clown since about 97 when Milenko came out. ICP has gone through many phases over the years.

They've put out a TON of music for us to digest. There are almost too many ICP songs to even count. It would take a long time to listen to them all in one sitting.

Besides the original six Joker Cards, there are tons of mini albums and unreleased stuff, and now we have the later Joker Card decks.

How's the album?

Anyway, I was skeptical to listen to Yum Yum's Lure because I haven't been keeping up with ICP that much the last couple of years.

I just needed a break from them

But I decided to dive in and give this a listen. It's apparently a bunch of leftover tracks from the upcoming Joker Card "Yum Yum Bedlam".

Classic ICP

One first listen, this has the elements of a classic ICP album. The intro track is awesome for one. And the songs have that classic ICP feel...well, most of them.

The beats are superb on most of these tracks. Really gave me the ICP feeling. Some of their albums after the original six were not to my taste.

That clowny feel that we all know and love

The lyrics are pretty awesome too, I love the concepts of some songs...especially Ding Ding Doll, and Smell of Rain...those are two of my favorites.

ICP has depth to their music

That's what I love about ICP, they tell a story in each of their songs. And they do it so well. This album is pretty fresh...I listened to most of it so far, and I'm pleasantly surprised.

It really brings back some of those classic feels of the ICP I know and love.

I'm excited about the next cards, for sure.

A lot of people say they can't get into newer ICP stuff, but this sounds like some of their earlier stuff...I love it, it's honestly pretty good.

Final thoughts

Even though I don't listen to ICP that much anymore, I still get in moods where I want to listen to their music. So I will go to YouTube and pull up one of their albums and give it a listen.

Check this one out, guys.

Funny video from my main youtube channel

If you guys want to see a funny video from my main YouTube channel, I decided to post it here. I make a lot of videos like this.

Black and white picture of man laughing

Just me doing something funny. In this video, I'm drinking coffee. This is a nod to Chevy Chase in Christmas Vacation when he drinks the eggnog and says "it's good..it's good" when he's basically losing his mind.

It's one of my favorite scenes ever… I decided to re-enact it, just sitting at my desk with coffee. Enjoy. Here's the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0X7b8JE_Fao

I hope you guys enjoy that little piece, and if you do, please drop a like or a comment. Or both. Haha. Thanks, guys.

Hebrew National vs Nathans Famous hot dog comparison

Today I wanted to rank and compare my 2 favorite hot dog brands, Hebrew National and Nathan's Famous. So what is the conclusion when it comes to Hebrew National vs Nathans?

When you think of hot dogs, what do you think of them? Ball Park? Oscar Meyer? Those are great hot dogs too, I honestly love them.

You might also like: I love Dunkin coffee (my favorite coffee ever)

But if you're looking for premium, high-quality franks, Hebrew National and Nathan's Famous are two of the best. So I'll just do a quick review of each and then explain which one wins in my opinion.

Hebrew National

Picture of Hebrew National beef franks

I first tried these hot dogs a couple of months ago. I was looking for a premium dog that I hadn't tried before, and I had always wanted to try these.

My first reaction was...wow, these taste like a REAL hot dog. They taste SORT OF like the kind you would get in a ballpark.

 A CRISPY DOG

They are very crisp, so they have a little bit of a "snap" when you bite into them. They're a little juicy, but not the juiciest I've ever had.

One thing about Hebrew National is they're known for using the highest quality cuts of beef. So these dogs are very meaty and you can definitely taste the difference.

Flavor-wise, they taste ALMOST like you would expect a classic hot dog to taste, except these have a unique seasoning, so they taste a little different.

As far as the price goes, they do cost more than a ballpark or something like that. But you get what you pay for, and it's worth the extra cost.

Overall, I give Hebrew National a 9/10 in my Hebrew National vs Nathans review.

Nathan's Famous

A package of Nathan's Famous hot dogs

What can I say about these except, they're fricking awesome! I actually only tried these about a month ago for the first time.

I had recently tried Hebrew National…and I was kind of on a kick of trying new hot dogs. Furthermore, I still hadn't found the perfect dog yet, that is, until I tried Nathan's Famous.

Upon the first bite of one of these, I was blown away by the flavor. 👀

They taste exactly like you would expect a classic hot dog to taste.

They're very plump and super juicy. I will say these don't have as much of a "snap" as the Hebrew National, since these are skinless franks.

THE REAL THING

But these are the authentic New York Coney Island hot dogs that they actually sell on the street in some parts of New York.

So if you're looking for a taste and quality that is authentic, these are what you want. Nathan's Famous will blow you away for sure if you've never had them.

Price-wise, this cost quite a bit more, but it's worth every penny if you want a premium dog.

And of course, they're all beef, so you're getting high quality there too.
Overall, these are the favorite I've ever tried yet, and I give them a full 10/10.

The winner

Overall, these are both really tasty and high-quality hot dogs…and I really love them both, but when it comes to Hebrew National vs Nathans, Nathan's is the clear winner for me. Although they cost more, they have the flavor of a classic authentic New York hot dog that I had been craving. And although they are pretty pricey, they're worth every penny.

FACTS ABOUT NATHAN'S FAMOUS

Nathan's was formed in 1916 in Coney Island and started as a hot dog stand selling them for a nickel a piece. The name "Nathan's" comes from its cofounder Nathan Handwerker. He started the hot dog business alongside his wife Ida, whose grandmother is the one who came up with the flavor recipe for the spices used in the product.

In 1987, the company branched out into franchises and expanded across New York and other areas as well.

AN AMERICAN STAPLE

Hot dogs are definitely a staple of American food culture. They have been around so long, and I can't imagine life without them.

Think about all the summers you have where you bite into a crisp dog. I can't imagine summer without them, either. We've all had times like that when we're hanging out with friends and family around a grill in the summer. Just having some fun, eating some hot dogs.

No matter how you like them, they bring people together, especially in the heat of summer. Hanging around a bonfire in the summer is great as well. And just being with the people you love.

A TREAT WHENEVER

They're good any time of year, though. Hot dogs are just great food that really fills you up and satisfies you.

There's just something about them that is so great to enjoy, especially on a hot day. Thinking about having one right now, with cold soda pop.

But I don't have any hot dogs at the moment.

I better go get some!

Do you keep them in your fridge at all times? I go through phases where I eat more hot dogs than normal. Like sometimes I will just crave them, especially the higher-quality varieties.

I used to eat cheap hot dogs a lot too. They're still pretty good, but I usually crave a better quality dog these days. But in general, I just love them. I do get burned out on them sometimes if I eat too many. That's with any food, though.

Too much of anything is bad, for sure.

Even though I've laid out the best reasons why one of these hot dogs is the winner in my opinion, that might not be true for everyone. Some of you reading this might not even like either of these brands of hot dogs.

Some people prefer something like Ball Park or Oscar Mayer, which is totally fine. Those aren't bad hot dogs by any means. I enjoy both of those. I simply chose these two brands to compare because they are well-known for being high-quality food products.

A hot dog, fries and a coca cola

I remember back before I tried either of these, I thought Ball Park and Oscar Mayer were the best out there. As I said, those are very tasty. 👌

But there are better options out there if you're willing to spend more cash. I love that these two brands, I've ranked, have that genuine "New York-style hot dog" flavor to them. I've never even been to New York, but I wanted to know what all the hype was about.

At least now I can say I've tried authentic hot dogs. I got what I was hoping for, and I didn't really pay a crazy amount for it, although I will say these two brands are a little pricey.

THEY'RE BOTH AMAZING

But they are both totally worth it. I would definitely go for the Nathan's if you're a true hot dog lover. Before I had Nathan's, I thought Hebrew National was the best. And they are very good, for sure. They're just not the absolute best.

Like I said, though, I love dogs in general. How could you not? Hot dogs are something that anyone can enjoy, and sometimes they actually bring people together. I hope you enjoyed my Hebrew National vs Nathans review.

A hot dog in a bun with mustard
What do you like on your hot dog? Mustard only, as pictured above? That's usually how I eat mine. Or do you like ketchup as well?

A frank in a bun with a glass of soda

Whichever brand of hot dog you prefer, they also go great with soda. Don't forget that! We can all agree, that hot dogs are good, no matter when you enjoy them. We each have our own way to enjoy them, for sure. It doesn't matter how you like to eat them, you can have them anyway you want, that's the beauty of it. Do what makes you happy!

YOU SHOULD TRY THESE

If you haven't yet tried either of these brands, you need to try them at least once. That way you can see which one you prefer. See what "floats your boat". These pictures sure do make hot dogs look appetizing. I could go for Nathan's right now.

NOW LET'S HEAR YOUR THOUGHTS

What about you? What kind of hot dogs do you like? Do you live in New York and eat authentic dogs? Or do you live somewhere else and just buy them from the store? We'd love to know what your favorite brand of frank is. Let us know in the comments.

Mike Matei's raging at games (my thoughts)

Mike Matei is well known for his time with Cinemassacre alongside James. But something he's become known for in recent years is his raging episodes while streaming games.

He's been streaming on Twitch for years now…and all of his fans are well aware of his raging. Why does he get so mad at games?

Well, any gamer knows how frustrating they can be

Mike is more than a casual gamer, so he gets really invested in the games.

So for that reason, it's understandable why he rages so much. He even jokes about it in his streams about how he rages. He's well aware of how it might come across to people...I think.

Each of Mike's streams generally goes like this:

  • 1. Stream starts off normal and calm, with Mike in a good mood and talking to fans.
  • 2. Stream gradually devolves into Mike screaming loudly at the game repeatedly.
  • 3. Mike eventually beats the game...or.
  • 4. Mike rage-quits and ends the stream.

He does often beat the games, so he doesn't always rage-quit. He has beaten many games on stream. He's honestly a very talented gamer.

As I've said before, Mike is one of the main reasons Cinemassacre grew so big.
Many have said that he is the "real Angry Video Game Nerd."

I would have to agree with that to a large extent. He is definitely an "angry gamer". James Rolfe, by contrast, is not very angry at all in real life.

RELATED READING
Mike is really the one who talked James into making more of the AVGN episodes, so we have him to thank for the series running so long…even up to date.

I honestly love watching Mike's streams, and the raging is part of who he is, and it's part of his character. He honestly wouldn't be the same to watch if it wasn't like that.

Mike is fun to watch

So this is not me talking bad about Mike, I'm a big supporter and have always been a fan. Check out his streams if you get the chance, you'll enjoy yourself.

He does some really funny stuff on his streams too. He'll put on funny costumes and play games in character and do stuff like that.

He also sings and dances now and then, which is really funny. He's an excellent entertainer. So when he's not raging, he's entertaining you in other ways.

Mike loves to give his fans a good show. You can tell he loves what he does. I think if you get the chance, you should go and support him.

Like I said before, he rages because games can be very frustrating sometimes. I think we can all agree on that.

Raging is a part of gaming

Anyone who's a true gamer has rage-quit at some point, probably lots of times. With so many gamers on the internet now, there are so many choices of them to watch.

But I watch Mike because of his very funny personality. His streams are just very entertaining. I guarantee if you watch one all the way through, you will laugh over and over.

I miss him at Cinemassacre, he was a true staple of the company. It's honestly hard to accept that Mike is no longer with the company. I never thought that would happen.

If you asked me 10 years ago, I never would have imagined we'd have a Cinemassacre without Mike Matei. It just doesn't seem real. He even had live streams of him gaming on the channel from 2016 and around that time.

That was back when live-streaming was just starting to get popular.

UPDATE 2022:

Mike left Cinemassacre as we all know, but he MAY be coming back. I'm not really sure, so don't quote me on that. But in the latest AVGN episode, Mike helped out with the episode and even did a title card like he used to!

I really love Mike's artwork, so his title cards are amazing. They give each episode a unique feel, for sure. They really bring something special to the Nerd episodes.

I can only hope that he returns to the channel to co-star in videos again and help out with them. He's part of what made the channel so incredible and grow so big.

Mike has been helping with some content on the Cinemassacre channel for the past year or so, from what I understand.

I don't think he ever really "left" entirely. Even if he doesn't star in any videos and rages at games, we can see lots of his gaming on his Twitch channel and on YouTube. Mike will give us that content we crave.

Mike has lots of fans

There are plenty of us who love watching Mike. It is true, that a lot of people watch him for his raging at games, which is fine. But he's just entertaining all around.

Not fitting in with your friends? Read this.

Are you not fitting in with your friend group? I realized today that I don't really fit in with my friends. Most of them are super social and outgoing. And I'm not.

They're always hanging out with people, getting out in public, socializing, all that type of stuff. And I'm not really like that for the most part.

I do get out some...but for the most part, I stay inside and keep to myself. I am an introvert after all. It just makes me feel like I don't fit in.

(Real quick...check out this post I did about Hebrew National vs. Nathan's hot dogs.)

Well, thankfully there are tons of people out there just like me.

I've also been realizing that my friends aren't really friends.

Well most of them. There is one in particular that I know talks behind my back a lot. He has for years. He's a backstabber.

Outcast of a group of friends

It sucks because I consider myself a good friend, but I don't get that same love back. I get talked about and ignored mostly.

I just need all new friends.

Not having real friends just sucks. It's a very lonely life. Well, I'd rather be alone than be around toxic people anyways.

Sometimes you can give your all to people and they still don't appreciate you. I don't think all of us are meant to have a lot of friends in this life.

Some of us are just meant to be lone wolves. That's what I am. I have the most peace when there isn't anyone around. How could you not love that?

Being alone is an amazing thing, so it's ok not to "fit in". We weren't meant for that type of life. I'm better off without a ton of friends. Hopefully, you can see it that way too, for yourself.

Happy 4th of July

Happy 4th of July, guys. I'm really enjoying my 4th weekend. It's been kind of a lazy weekend so far. I got a nice firework show last night, outside my window.

There were 2 different people shooting off fireworks in the distance. So I got a "double" show. It was pretty awesome.

A photo of an American flag
I love America

I bet they'll be shooting them off again tonight outside my house, since tonight is actually the 4th. I'm really grateful this 4th…maybe more so than usual.

I'm grateful to be an American

Our country is so great. We have so much to be grateful for. So many freedoms.

The freedom to be who we want to be...that's the greatest thing. Think about all the men and women who have died protecting our freedom.

The 4th should kind of be like Veterans Day too. We should honor the people who protect our country.

A day of gratitude

I feel like this weekend is kind of like Thanksgiving, too.

Just because there is so much to be grateful for, and it's such a great reminder to look around and just appreciate what you have. What do you like to do for the 4th of July? Is it one of your favorite holidays? Do you spend it alone or with friends and family?

I hope you all have an amazing weekend. God bless America!
